Cynthia is a neighbor of Al Borland. She makes her only appearance in Roomie for Improvement. She was played by Debra Engle.
Cynthia is single and attractive. Per Al, she is "on the rebound", although it is never stated whether it is from a divorce or a bad relationship. When Tim Taylor comes over to stay for a few days due to Mark having chicken pox (which Tim has never had), Cynthia comes over to borrow a cup of sugar to bake a cake. She invites Al over, but he declines as he is entertaining Tim. When she leaves, Tim encourages Al to pursue a relationship as she is obviously sending signals. Al replies that he is hesitant because of her being "on the rebound", although she stops by his place daily.
Later, when Al argues with and throws Tim out of his apartment because of another embarrassment at Tool Time that day, Cynthia overhears and mistakenly thinks Al and Tim are in a homosexual relationship based on what is said. Tim explains his situation and informs Cynthia that Al really is attracted to her, but also wants to consider her feelings. Using Cynthia as cover, he tricks Al into letting him back into the apartment. Tim then apologizes to Al and then enables Al and Cynthia to spend the evening together as he returns home.
